Kalman tracking based on TDOA for UMTS mobile location

چکیده

The TDOA approach is qualitatively different in networkbased positioning systems from the mobile-based positioning systems. In network-based systems, the TDOAs are the time difference of arrival of a signal sent by the UE (User Equipment) and received by several BSs (Base Station). Conversely, in mobile-based systems the TDOAs are equal to differences in pairs of BS TOAs (Time of Arrival) measured by the same UE. In both cases, the constant time difference of two BSs defines a hyperbola, with foci at the BSs, on which the UE must lie. The intersection of two hyperbolic loci will define the 2dimensional position of the UE.
